Seventh Annual Cottage & Lakefront Living Show
Summer in The Great Lakes State is all about spending time on the water! Start your dreaming and planning now, as the only show in West Michigan devoted entirely to cottages and homes on water returns to DeVos Place – March 15-17.
This is the Show for everyone looking to rent, buy, build, improve, or simply to enjoy a home on the water. It’s the only show that features products, services, and special presentations covering every aspect of the “Cottage Lifestyle.”
You’ll find architects and designers; lakefront builders, developers, and realtors; log and timber frame home builders; boats, docks, and lifts; home furnishings; landscaping and home improvement businesses, and hundreds of other goods and services.
Plus, the Show offers free seminars, special events, contests and giveaways.
Two Complete Cottages - Builder Marvin Mast teams up with outdoor designer Steve Essex to complete two fully furnished and landscaped cottages inside DeVos Place!
“Monroe Street Beach” and the Sand Pirate - No need to wait till summer – come hit the beach in downtown Grand Rapids! Our awesome indoor beach is the perfect way to get your sand fix. Visit with the Sand Pirate, expert sand sculptor Janet Moore Schrader, as she builds an incredible castle, and get tips and tricks you can use for your own entry in the sand castle building contest! On Sunday, kids are invited to help Schrader “storm the castle” when she reminds everyone that the best part of building a sand castle is destroying it! So kick off your shoes and join her on Monroe Street Beach each day during the Show.
Build a Strombrella - Tom Rademacher, columnist in the GR Press, is back to lead his second Weekend Project Center. This year, Tom teaches visitors how to build their own old-fashioned strombrella, or covered arbor. "Strombrellas represent a throwback project that nod to a gentler era," Tom says, "and yet they're slick enough to complement any sort of cabin or cottage."
Cottage Fine Art Show - This full-scale art fair has become one of the Show’s central attractions because it’s the best place to get original works from some of Michigan’s best artists to decorate your home or treasured getaway! You'll find paintings, photographs, steel and wood sculpture, drawings, and more. Don’t miss this incredible show within a show!
Buying and Selling Waterfront Property - Grand Rapids attorney Cliff Bloom is one of Michigan's foremost experts on water and riparian law. In addition to his regular column in the Michigan Riparian Magazine, Cliff is also legal counsel for the Michigan Lake & Stream Associations, Inc. (ML&SA), as well as co-counsel for the Michigan Waterfront Alliance. Cliff will present a seminar based on his new book Buying and Selling Waterfront Property in Michigan.
Cottage Succession Planning Seminars - Jeff Ammon and Katie Aguilar from Miller, Johnson will explain the most effective strategies for families to retain a cottage for use by future generations. Learn how to make your family cottage a place of relaxation, not a source of anxiety, for its present – and future – owners.
Fun Family Fishing Seminars help you get the most out of taking your kids or grandkids fishing. Plus, kids (and adults!) can test their angling skills on a state-of-the-art Fishing Simulator all weekend long courtesy of Sportpersons Ministries!!
More Free Expert Seminars - Our line-up of terrific seminars on birding, nature photography, site planning, and more, is designed to help you make the most of your waterfront living experience. Whether you rent or own, whether your time on the water is a few days or year-round, we have seminars for you!
Shop the Lakefront Market Place for all kinds of cool items for your cottage or home, including furniture, decorator items, gourmet food, specialty clothing, and more.
Cottage Living Center - With so much to see and do, many visitors will appreciate the chance to take a load off at the Cottage Living Center. Relax in a comfy chair, work on a group jigsaw puzzle, check out a summer reading list and the cottage song list, pin your cottage on the wall map and see if anyone else from your lake has visited, and check out the For Sale/For Rent listing board – what would this show be without a place to kick back a little?
Water & Woods Photography Contest - Photographers and visitors alike love this contest! Once again we’ve received hundreds of wonderful photos that capture the essence of cottage or lakefront living. The Top 10 Finalists will be displayed at the Show, where visitors can vote for their favorite. The winner will get a cool Kymco scooter, and a randomly drawn voter will win a print by artist Jonathon Shuff!
