Lunar New Year 2019

The Chinese Association of West Michigan is proud to present the second annual “2019 Lunar New Year Festival, Year of the Pig”!

Saturday, February 2, 2019 | 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm

DeVos Place Ballroom A-B

303 Monroe Ave NW Grand Rapids, MI 49503.

The Pig is the twelfth of all zodiac animals. According to one myth, the Jade Emperor said the order would be decided by the order in which they arrived to his party. Pig was late because he overslept. Another story says that a wolf destroyed his house. He had to rebuild his home before he could set off. When he arrived, he was the last one and could only take twelfth place.

If you want to experience a tradition that is celebrated all around the world, you don’t want to miss the annual Chinese Lunar New Year Festival open to the public. You’ll enjoy traditional food, performances like the dragon & lion dancers. Activities to include; having your name written in Chinese, a visit with the Tea Master, kids activities and so much more.  Make this a family outing and enjoy the richness of the Chinese culture.
